Preserving the Past Through Art

Snowboarding Forbidden Here (Art as preservationist) Here is me holding a tiny photo of the painting by the same name. It features a snowboarder jumping in front of the famous Eley Motor Co. faded sign with a Frontside grab. The painting includes written titles of ski runs in the Park City/Deer Valley area that do not allow snowboarding. (It's a subtle jab at the establishment. Snowboarders like that kind of stuff.) The Eley Motor Co. handpainted sign was on the north-facing wall of the former Kimball Arts Center building. Gray Hospital Style Painted Wall ... Shown in the background of this image. The sign was viewable from the entry of hashtagDavanzas Restaurant on Park Avenue. The building has been acquired and renovated and the awesome sign has been painted over. Worth Preserving ... I have done three paintings that feature this sign. It was a part of early Park City history that had a level of decay that made it the very best example of vintage hand painted signs in the area.
